It is with great sorrow that the Fondazione Emilio e Annabianca Vedova has learned of the death of Louise Bourgeois, one of the greatest and most significant figures in the artistic scene of our time, just as we near the completion of the preparations for an exhibition in Venice of some as yet unseen works: “Louise Bourgeois. The Fabric Works”.
The President, Alfredo Bianchini, and the Curator, Germano Celant, wish to recall the great energy and creative capacity that characterised her visual research throughout her lifetime: “For Louise, life coincided with her art, and continues to live in her works. We are about to inaugurate the last exhibition in which she was actively involved until two days ago, participating with sensitivity and passion in every phase of its realisation.
The exhibition that will open next Friday in the Magazzino del Sale at the Zattere will thus represent the first major tribute to be rendered by the world of culture to a leading protagonist of modern and contemporary art”.
