Emilio Vedova working on "Plurimi", Venice, 1962. Ph Alberto Grifi, Rome

1962

In 1962, Vedova creates the mixed-media Per la Spagna cycles, in which the most disparate materials are assembled to compose his canvases.
Following on the reliefs, the mixed-media works and the sculptures, Vedova detaches the canvas from the wall and immerses it in the space, creating two-sided paintings on wood, using the most of all the artistic techniques developed up to that time (collage/décollage, graffiti, burning...). He thus realized his plurimi.
